IVF now available at Sunshine!

Sunshine Genetics is now using IVF technology to produce more female embryos. Our ET team and other selected ET veterinarians in Wisconsin are cooperating with a new laboratory of Sexing Technologies, located in Fond du Lac, Wis., which features semen sorting.

We will be collecting oocytes from donor cows, heifers and pregnant females that are housed at Sunshine on a weekly basis. Locally owned cows can be trucked back and forth for the procedure.

Although IVF is a last resort for some infertile cows, the best results come from young, healthy, fertile females. IVF may be used between conventional ET procedures in some donors. IVF can be done on pregnant cows and heifers early in the gestation when ovaries are within reach.

If you are planning to send your cow here for this procedure, please call us, we can answer your questions and discuss health tests, etc. You must have semen available to send to the lab well in advance of the procedure for best results.

ET training in Israel

Chris and his wife, Ann, traveled to Israel in early November, spending a week with Scion’s ET team as a consultant. Chris also presented a seminar to a group of veterinarians, breeders, and AI personel. He added: "I was impressed with the level of milk production in Israel, and the challenges they have with the climate and high environmental temperatures."

The Truth of the Matter

The Toni family struck gold again at World Dairy Expo 2009 as Milk & Honey Sun TTL Truth was named Reserve Junior Champion after topping the Summer Yearling Class at the Central National Brown Swiss Show.

Truth combines two of the most successful show families at Expo and has a pedigree packed with All-Americans. An early daughter of Total, the Legacy son of 2006 Expo Champion Sunnyisle Colby Twilite, Truth is right out of Timberline Jetway Toni, herself a 4-time All-American and Reserve Champion at Expo in 1999.

ET calves coming from Truth soon!
